Property Management (Liegenschaftsverwaltung)
Municipal properties and land
The City of Kreuzlingen owns 145 properties as administrative assets, 48 properties as financial assets and around 400 roads, paths and squares. The best-known buildings are Seeburg Castle, the Hörnliberg Youth Hostel and the Fischerhaus Restaurant as well as the administrative buildings of the City of Kreuzlingen, the Workyard and the central cemetery. Another seven buildings, such as the Schiesserareal, are located on parcels of land in the financial assets. In addition, there are buildings that have been transferred under building rights, such as the Bodensee (Lake Constance) Arena, the Rosenegg Museum and the Lake Museum.
Tasks of the Property Management
The land and buildings must be looked after and maintained. Many buildings or parts thereof are rented out, and many vacant plots are leased out for agricultural purposes. The main tasks of the property management are the short- and long-term maintenance of the buildings and contract management. In terms of building maintenance, the focus is on energy-efficient renovations and the use of innovative energy systems. The preservation of historical substance in listed buildings is also an important topic. In the area of contract management, both the economic efficiency and the social compatibility of contractual relationships are implemented.
Internally, the Property Management is also in charge of cleaning and managing all administrative buildings. Small to medium-sized new buildings are also carried out by the Property Management Department. In recent years, these included the Youth Centre, the Pavilion at the Fischerhaus restaurant and the new Wild Bird Care and Reptile Sanctuary in Sägenösch.
